    Hi All

I've dusted off my Bass Rig after a few years on the shelf.

    Ampeg B2R into Hartke 410 & 115.

Got a major ground hum whenever I'm not touching the strings.
Also disappears when I place hands on the Ampeg Head or the jack.

Can I rule out the instrument???
Major hum disappears when I touch the strings on my 70s P. It's fine in a mates practice amp.
My electrice guitar is also humming when plugged in, and hum disappears when I touch the strings.

Input jack is a little scratchy at times - ie squeeks and squarks if I twist the cable.

I've used different instrument leads - the same issues regardless of lead.

Scratchy jack a good starting place?
SHould I try a different power cable?
    Speaker Cables?

    All advice appreciated.

    Scott
