    Guild X-702 Bass 1982-84

This is a rare bird of the bass world! An American-made Guild X-702 Bass. From what I understand, there were only something like 250 of these ever made between the years 1982-1984.

    Specs:

    X-702
    manufactured: 1982-84
    body: mahogany
neck: set mahogany, with rosewood fingerboard
    scale: 34"
    overall length: 42"
    width at nut: 1 5/8"
electronics/pickups: two Guild single-coil pickups, two volume and one tone control
    hardware: BT-4 bridge

The bass is all original. The upper left horn of the headstock evidently was broken and repaired. (see pics) It is just a small triangular piece and does not affect where the tuner is attached, and the headstock is otherwise completely fine structurally. Also, there’s a small finish chip on the back of the neck, and a little crack in the pickguard around the input jack. Besides that, there is some minor wear on the body in spots but overall it's in good condition for an instrument of this age. The truss rod works fine, frets are in decent shape, electronics all good. The pickups sound great and the neck plays nicely. I do not have the OHSC, a gig bag is included, and it will be packed carefully for shipping. Here’s an opportunity to own a real collectors item!

I put new strings on this last night and did a little set-up work. It's a great sounding bass! The sound is punchy and aggressive, a little bit Fender and a little bit Music Man, but with the set neck, it also has a bit of Gibson vibe. Even with the "rad" body style it sits nicely balanced. Very cool bass! One of you hipsters needs to buy it!
