I received a Email from Guitar Center stating they were giving me a 15% off coupon for being a loyal customer. I thought cool, I have been wanting a set of pickups so this is right on time. Unfortunately the pickups I want are exempt from the discount and so is the list of manufacturers below.

That looks like a list of their entire inventory!

If only I were that good....
I've not seen an instance where they won't still accept it for anything in the actual store...

So a manager has discretion if it means he can move merch?

I don't see Jim Dunlop (or MXR) on that list. Guess I'll load up on picks and pedals.

Dick's Sporting Goods pulls the same jive.

The pickups I want are not standard store stock and would have to be ordered.

Is this really news to anyone?

  9. This topic pops up quite frequently. In a nutshell, the "list" is basically due to contractual obligations from those specific manufacturers stipulating advertised prices. I've never been turned down at an actual GC store, and have even applied it to used gear. Hit up a local GC, coupon in hand, and see what happens:)

Well, I have to give it to Guitar Center, I was on their website and tried the coupon code at check out and it didn't work for what I wanted, I hit the chat button and conversed with a representative and he gave me a new code to try and it worked, saved $38! I placed the order and should have the pickups in 3-5 days.
