I watched the documentary about him on Netflix recently, and it was fascinating. Little odd to post an obit from a year that didn't have zeroes, though.

Yeah, it's 1 year short of the 20th. But Harry Nilsson is someone who deserves more appreciation anyways.

His profile says, "registered snoozer". Maybe, like Rip Van Winkle, he just woke up from 1994. TBH, I didn't know he was dead, so I'm grateful for the post even though it happened long ago.

Just to make sure I know what's going on. You're posting the obit on the 18th anniversary of the day that he died right?

Oops! Sorry guys. I thought he passed today. He was a great artist nonetheless. Registered snoozer indeed.

When you put too much lime in your coconut, you tend to forget time.
Was in a band for years that played his original version of the song "One"
It was sort of a cross between his and Amiee Mann's version, not the Three Dog Night cover.
BTW, speaking of covers, Tedeschi-Trucks band does a great version of Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin"

Bummer - one of the first songs I learned on bass was "Jump into the Fire", and I still love that song today.

    +1, absolutely

His "Nilsson Schmilson" album had not one but two great bassists of the day on it: Klaus Voorman and Bernie Flowers, can't go wrong there :D

Great album indeed, with 2 stellar bassists (Herbie Flowers, not Bernie).
And Everybody's Talkin' is actually a Fred Neil tune.

oops :ninja::D Was just reading about Bernie Worrell, duh.......

Fred's original version is really good, too. IIRC with the royalties from that tune and a couple others he left the music industry and went down to the Florida Keys doing some sort of research with dolphins. A self-fulfilling prophecy ;)

I kept thinking to myself "Didn't he die a long time ago?" when I saw the thread title.

Yep, I was right, for once...
