I have seen tutorials on how to convert a combo amp into a head/cab but non have a way to easily revert back to a combo or even alow for amp-> external cab and head-> internal speaker at the same time.

Does anyone see any issues/improvements with trying to do this?

Grab a combo like the Mesa Carbine series where you can slide the head in and out of the cab easily and use whatever speakers you want there a number of combos that have this feature.

I'm not interested in buying a new amp at the moment. I'm just tinkering with this idea really.

I have seen people using different types of wires; from electrical wire to a normal speaker cable cut up and soldered. I have some leftover cable from my new surround sound movie room (just normal cd player cables that you cut, twist and put in the back of the speaker). Would this be suitable for this? It does say "high resolution speaker cable" on the side after all.
