    Hello everyone, :D

    I'm planning to have a custom made bridge for my project bass that I'm making which is a hybrid between an electric upright and an electric P/J bass.

    If you want more specific info about the bass itself and the design of it, follow this link;
    http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/pj-electric-double-bass-hybrid-project-1051857/index2.html

    As for the topic at hand, I have three questions in mind that I wanted to ask about the type of bridge I would need for this project, and they are the following:

    1. Is this a possible design? If so, can I have it custom made by a manufacturer or is there already a bass bridge that has this function, or a manufacturer that already does this?

    A visual representation of the concept that I want to get across:

    The amount of string length that I want to tuck away is approximately 12" at most (that’ll happen when I shorten down the scale length from the bridge, [how? check out the link above ;) this post only deals with the bride issue] I'll have to use smaller strings which I have to find a way of putting away those extra 12" without damaging the strings to reuse them when I'm playing as a Double Bass)

    2. What shape/design would my bridge have to be ? (a double bass bridge vs electric bass bridge vs a little combination from both? ex:

    For this hybrid) preferably I like the design and the form of a electric bass bridge (just because it could provide room for tucking away the strings) but then again, I don’t know how the total tone will be affected. I'm open to not just these two models:

    Electric Bridge concept:

    Double Bridge concept:

    3. Since it's going to be a hybrid between a double bass and an electric, what material should I go with and outer design? Should it be wood like the traditional double bass bridge or should it be aluminum which some double basses use and what many electric basses use?

    Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it! :p
