Wow. Tough crowd. I'll do my best to come up with something more interesting, like a fascinating thread about Pete Wentz's tone. Or something about "scooping mids."

Dude ian plays exactly what the songs need. Think he can't play? Listen to rockarolla or sad wings. Trying playing with the guitar and the song falls apart

He's almost in Pete Wentz's league, but still a couple of rungs down the ladder from Adam Clayton. ;)

Doubled with quantized MIDI bass! You can hear the perfect articulation from the MIDI track underpinning the more "human" feel of his picking. Super common metal bass tracking trick. Best bass for metal? Computer.

Completely made using samples & quantized. Loops. Computer played.

Could've done this with Garage Band.

This "technique" is used by everyone with a budget - gotta pay those programmers with their programs - from Nashville - London - L.A. - N.Y. and everywhere between.

It takes a special kind of genius to ask "Your point?" when someone asks for comments or thoughts about a very famous heavy metal bassline. One doesn't need to have a "point" when asking for others' opinions.

No wonder Jeff Berlin got banned!

Simmer down. The OP asked for "thoughts".

Whether the bass part "serves" the song or not, that can be YOUR call.

This is an early example of a sequenced bass track. Big deal. It's serves the song.

Isn't that what playing bass is? Serving the song? If so why do guys get trashed for doing just that? Ian hill, Nikki sixx, guy from AC/DC and even john mcvie? Isn't being in a band about the song? Most bands that have a great bass player tend to suck with crappy songs. Imo

I don't like how the bass sounds like it belongs in an old NES game during a boss battle.

take that down to about 70 bpm and then start planning your haunted house
