Idiots already camping out for Black Friday

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by tastybasslines, Nov 26, 2013.

  1. Drove past my local Best Buy today during lunch. Idiots already with full tents out and hibachi grills cooking. Seriously.

Wait until more people get killed again this year in the inevitable stampede for a $19 Blu Ray player or whatever. The people without jobs, waiting to be the first to buy something on sale.

I think the campers do it because they think it's fun not because they're so hungry for consumer electronics they need to be there two days in advance. It's not really any different than tailgating, rv camping or any other recreational waste of time sitting in one spot in what amounts to a parking lot.

I don't personally agree with their sense of fun, but I don't think they're any dumber than the rest of us.

Got any empirical evidence they don't have jobs?

But yeah, f*** Black Friday. I'm going to ride my bike as far away from all the stores as I can.
  6. No statistics per your M.O., but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if you are there you are not working.

  10. Yes or no, most people in America who have day jobs work up until Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Stats, I demand stats! Maybe they took some vacation days to unwisely spend in front of the altar of consumerism?

I have a job. I have the week off. Won't be doing Black Friday. Too coo coo. I mean Black Friday is coo coo not me. At least I think that's right.
  14. Perhaps, but they better be buying in bulk to make the lost wages worth it. Even then, don't they limit purchases of each loss leader item to 1?

I did a Black Friday thing once. But I went to an H H Gregg (not many people visit there vs Best Buy) and stood in line for a couple of hours until 1 am when the doors opened with some buddies, got a big ass tv for cheap and went home to bed. I enjoyed it enough, but people go waaay overboard with it. I haven't done it since though.
  16. This is my Black Friday.

Seriously, though... Shopping is not something I ever want to do and I'm not a fan of crowds. The last thing I want to do the day after Thanksgiving is shop with the masses.

Worshiping devices = idiocy, by my book.
  18. I dislike the mobs. I am also working that day. Not many stores near the hospital. Very happy about that.

I have the day off, but there is no way I'm going anywhere near any store with a "Black Friday" sale. As a matter of fact i think that's going to be a drinking day. If i can't drive, i don't have to deal with black friday nutjobs!! :hyper:

I don't like this stuff...but I might head out early to a GC on Friday to see if I can score my little guy a drum kit.
