If you had a guitar center discount, what amp would you snag? Not looking for the MOST powerful amp necessarily, but not looking for 300w either.

FWIW, I'm partial to the GB shuttle stuff (i know its not available, just for reference)

    Ampeg svt?

HELP ME BLOW MY MONEY :)

I just pulled the trigger on the latter. Now I'm ready to spend your money too, Sir.

I'd probably wake up before I had a chance to use the discount.

V4B/not sure what cab. I'd like to say a fridge, but at 52, moving one becomes a little harder than it used to.

My discount would probably expire before a GC employee actually came around and talked to me.

Hartke LH1000. No reason why anyone should not have this Head. Its $500 new and nearly all amps you look at getting these days are going to be 300+. If you can hit 300, save a little more and get that which the bass gods have left for us.

I'm kind of a GK guy now, but that Mesa Boogie combo with the removable head seemed really nice...

GC has some good products - but they don't carry all the top brands. Epifani and Aguiar would be two to check out but GC doesn't carry them.

    OP here

yeah, I am having a little trouble with the selection. I'm not dead set on it or anything, just unfamiliar with a lot of amps, relatively speaking.

Personally, I'd ideally be picking up a GB shuttle once I have a little scratch to throw around, but yea...
I dig the markbass stuff too, but its a weird sampling selection at GC...

We'll see what happens.. I was initially psyched about throwing a little cash at ''whatever'' and really wanted a p-bass, but a pickup change and passification of my Roscoe left me not wanting anything bass-wise..

    The discount is 'new only'

JimmyM, I have only used the V-4B in a few backlined and rushed situations.. Is this more of a 'breaks up nice' or a 'crystal clear but warm' kind of tubeyness? I know its a ... ahem... pretty well known amp, but humor me.
I am not in favor of tube amps that get overdriven easily, but I absolutely adore any of the clean-but-lovely tube goodness to be had.
