Well I just bought a TC Electronic Bg250 and I'm not that happy with it. I'm intereseted in the new Rumble 500 too. Should I return the TC and swallow the shipping fee and save up for the Fender or stick with the TC? If I send it back I'll be without a loud amp for maybe 4 months.

Well, if you don't like the TC it will probably just eat at you. I'd say if you don't need a loud amp for maybe 4 months send the TC back and save up.

Also, for the $400 the Fender Rumble would cost you, you could get an IMO "better" amp here in the classifieds.

I also have some interest in some GK stuff. The TC was just too "boomy" for me. I like an amp with some punch to it. What other amps would you recommend?

Well, I haven't priced amps in this price range lately, so perhaps I'm not the best to ask, but I'd go with something like this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f127/genz-benz-shuttle-6-2-a-1041444/
    Or this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f127/fs-gk-mb500-1045211/
    Or this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f127/gallien-krueger-mb500-fusion-new-1042797/
    Or this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f127/markbass-little-mark-ii-bass-head-trades-1041346/
    Or this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f127/fs-aguilar-tone-hammer-350-a-1037563/

I can't say that the Fender would be bad, as I've not played it, but Fender is not really known for amps. GK, Genz, MarkBass, Aguilar would do you just right. There are threads on all of these amps on here so you can learn about the tonal differences. Good luck.

  7. Eat the shipping and send it back. Then save for the new Rumble 500.

This is the correct answer. Buying used is the way to go if you're on a budget and don't know exactly what you want. I've been through a half dozen amps in the last year, with very little money lost in all my trials.

Keeping an amp you don't like does not make any sense, shipping or not.

  11. Yeah, send it back. If I wasn't happy with it, I'd send it back and save up for the other.

I'm going to send it back soon. I just needed to hear it from some fellow bassists :smug: Thanks guys
  13. Good deal can be had on the Genz Benz contour 500 - 210 combo, bargain sellout price... Plenty of punch there...
