Looking for a head to leave in the practice room paired with my GK410 Neo (8ohm). Normally I run my carvin bx1500 with it, but want to quit hauling stuff back downstairs after gigs. Play in hard rock band with 2 guitars. What's my best option for power and reliability? Looking used as this will be only a practice rig. Ideas or anyone have something they'd sell me ? Wanna stay $250 or below. Thanks!

Used GK400RB or 800RB. The 400RB will be easier to find at your price point, but 800RB's do pop up at or under it every once in a while too.

    GK 400RB would be plenty
    800RB would be even better.

You can get a new MB200 for 3 bills new. That would be a perfect practice head to match with that cab, and buying new gives you a full warranty.

+1, you can get it cheaper at RMC, and there was one or two in the amps for sale forum for around $200

Carvin BX250 is $249 new - delivered. It puts out 200 watts at 8 ohms, more than the GK MB200 (140 watts at 8 ohms)

You are right, but, as an owner of a pair of 410 Neo cabs, I can tell you that they sound great when paired with GK amps. I have tried those cabs with other heads, they sounded ok, but they are really voiced for GK

I'm sure they do. I suggested Carvin as the OP already uses a Carvin BX1500.

Another option new would be the accoustic b200h. It will sound awesome through your cab and be plenty loud enough. Around 150 new.

You could find a reasonably price 1001rb or 700rb on the used market. Those are perfect matches to that cab IMO. But so is the 800rb. I run the 1001 with a Neo 410 and its quite awesome. I have had GAS for other amps and cabs, but I'm in no hurry whatsoever to move to something else at the moment. And havent been for a while. GK life is good :)

Backline 600 or used Carvin would be my recommendation

You can routinely find decent used 700RB-II units at the Guitar Center used website for around $300, which as others have pointed out would pair very well with your cab. But it would probably be overkill for practice. Of course, so is the 410NEO cab... :)

    Great responses thank you all!!!
    Giving it lots of thought.....
    any Ampeg ideas????
    PF350???
    No experience with those.
MB200 seems a little small - maybe it sounds big :).

My GK Neo410 is overkill I know, but got a great deal on it new and couldn't pass it up. Can pair with my BX1500 if I need to, which is why I got it. My regular rig is the BX1500 running two BR410 cabs bridged at 1500watts.....never needed any more anywhere with that rig - inside or out!

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated to finish off my practice setup. Thanks again everybody!!!

You will have no problems using the head you already have. That head makes alot of power, so you will have a ton of clean head room.

Oh no my bx1500 is my rig at gigs. Just a head to leave at practice room with the gk cab. I'm good for gigs.

And yes that carvin r1000 is tempting on eBay. A friend still uses his as a main rig and it sounds as good as my bx1500 I must say.

I use my GK MB200 with my GK NEO 412.
Sounds pretty loud to me. The Gain knob only sits at 11 o clock.
