My 75 PBass has a crackle at the input jack. I assume it's either a loose solder joint or the contact to the instrument cable needs to be cleaned up. Any other ideas?

Assuming you've ruled out cable itself, I'd pop open the cavity and take a look. Most likely it's something with the jack, yes.

Those jacks can be easily bent by accident (ripping out the cord by stepping on it, etc.). That will cause bad contact. One of the solder joints could be messed up too, though.

Check the "tin foil" grounding tape on the pickguard. I had one that was not making good contact, and was causing crackle.
