This sounds like a fun bassline, and fits my definition of "funky". I'm talking about the recording on cd-version of "Black Moses" (cd 1, track 5).

Anybody happen to have transcribed this bassline?

Also - any pointers on which bass / amp / etc used to create the sound are much welcome

Ok, after going through it with a bass for the first time, it seems to me its just a G pentatonic down (starting on the D-string) GFDCAG

"The Box", more or less. Theres that one part thats bit diff, though.

    Comments?

That run in the beginning sounds like this to me:

    G|---------------------------
    D|5-5-3-3-----------3---------
    A|--------5-0-1-4/5---3\1-1------
    E|--------------------------1-3--
