Basstheworld.com just posted what appears to be a new MM Bass head on their Facebook page. I haven't found any information yet but it looks cool. What are your thoughts? ImageUploadedByTalkBass1394255345.250112.jpg

You sure that's new? That tolex looks like it's seen better days.

It does, now that you mention it. The eq looks very modern though.

I seem to recall that Markbass had something to do with the Musicman Audiofile series of amps. If I'm not mistaken, the heads were built by Markbass.

It looks that way because it didn't conform to the contours very well - look again, it's the same on both sides.

I owned one of the original MusicMan amps back in the mid 70s. Me - and a lot of others bought them based on faith in Eric Clapton. The idea of a tube preamp and a solid state power amp seemed plausible, they just didn't sound very good. At least it was reliable.

The fact that MarkBass is involved doesn't bode well, IMO.

    Hi.

Yet another attempt to sell something with a bought reputation of a vintage gear.

    GRRREAT...

Ampeg (or more precisely the numerous companies that have owned that brand name over the years) may be the only example in MI amplification field where it has been a success.

The ones we had over here were usually the other way around, SS pre and tube power amp.

But they did not sound very pleasing to my ears either.

I have to say that what little experience I have had with MusicMan amps has been the total opposite of that.
That was a decade or two (of neglect) later than Your experience though.

    Regards
    Sam

There's a lot of high quality gear being made in Italy these days, with Markbass and Schertler.

Here is what they are planning:

HD 130 Reverb : Two channel head with reverb and tremolo, 130 watts.

    112 RD 50 : combo, 50W two channels, 1-12

212 RD 130 : combo, 130W, two channels, 2x12 DV Mark Neoclassic et 4 lampes de puissance EL34

    GS 412 : cab with 4 x 12” DV Mark Neoclassic, 600W, mono 8 Ohms / stéréo 16 Ohms

The press release I have is in French and was reporting in musikmesse in Germany where the announcement was made.

    My Prediction:
These amps will not use tubes.
I'm guessing that they are bringing back a vintage look with modern electronics.

I get the impression they're bringing back new versions of some old models aimed more at guitar ( but no reason an HD 130 can't be used for bass too) , and also doing new solid state bass specific heads and cabs, as the pic above of the guys standing around what looks to be a class d sized head and 610 cab.
