During the 80's I was way into Ornette Colman and his bass player Jamaaladeen. He was one of the main reasons I got gas for a Steinberger bass. Recently I googled Jamaaladeen and I see he has been playing a totally different kind of bass. And guess what he sounds like Jamaaladeen! I know that is a strong indicator that it's the player not the axe that makes the player's sound. Yet it does not stop me from wanting the gear from the players I admire. I guess that's human nature for ya.

  2. Odd as it may seem he still has that sound pretty much, mainly because of the way he plays, further proof it's mainly in the hands!
