I started i post a week ago asking how to do that.

I got a few ideas and i did, without damage the bass.

I installed sadowsky jazz pickup on Ibanez BTB with soapbar pup's

The problem was how to cover it. And Ibanez bass has the custom size pup's.

I got a empty shell and i cut it to fit in.

    I'm using bass mods preamp,
It's not a clean sound, the preamp add some color, and I increased the gain output of the preamp, to get a little kind of distortion sound, but just a little. Not too noticeable

Sounds like a kind of precision bass, but without the mids.

You can make some exotic wood shells for the pickups can fit in.

Great job. I've been trying to decide on how to tackle the same issue myself on my Ibanez SR500. Never thought to mount the pups then just put the cover over top them.
