Looking at one of these and its been played - buckle rash on back, some nicks and dings etc but its still a fun bass. Anybody got an opinion on these and or a current VG Price guide?

I have the JJ Longhorn, Shorthorn, and Single Cutaway. My favorite is the Single Cutaway.

I searched for the VG price guide on line it found the JJ page in the 2010 version with pricing of 475-$575

No Jerry Jones bass is going for that now that he's stopped building. Double those prices seems to be about where they start selling now. $1200-1300 is the the range for the last couple of clean Longhorns I've looked into. They seem to be becoming somewhat "collectable".

I sold my 2 JJ Longhorns I guess it has been at least 4 years ago for 500.00 each. A couple years ago Jerry retired and I haven't seen any JJ basses for less than 1200.00 no matter the condition which was always VG or better. Fantastic basses by the way. Wish I never sold mine.

I bought my JJ Longhorn off eBay in 2010 but it was stolen in August of that year. I really really missed it but didn't want another one. A friend on another forum sent me an email a couple of months ago about one on eBay and guess what? It was MINE!
So I got it back after two years. It will never leave my hands again!

Thanks, it is! I posted a more detailed story in the Stolen Basses thread. I'm glad to have it back. Hope you can pick up a JJ. They are terrific basses!

I recently started playing my JJs again and it prompted to take my 50 year-old Silvertone/Dano #1444 bass out of mothballs for a show this weekend...it's in excellent condition and sounds great with the Labella tapes I installed.
