Katrama, Retired but one of the best players around...
Helsinki Philharmonic has two new first principal seats done... I think Vaatainen Ville has the post and Moilanen (French?) has a solobassist place there too?

Mikko Moilanen played a recital in Bonn 2000's. He played with a german bow but is he a Finn? I thought he is a french according his name! But with a german bow (as HE told me, it is a Bohemian bowhold :)-) His playing was supreme. Just the best I have ever heard!! Only the Hindemith sonatas 2nd movement was the very top. So is he there? Nobody know? Does Moilanen (or is it Molander, Molier, Mochan teach?) Mikko perform etc...?

Katrama is probably my favorite classical soloist to listen to. His playing is incredible.

Do any of you know about his bass or his setup? I think he plays a Charles Quenoil bass . . . but I don't know anything about where he got it, what strings he uses, etc. etc.

He plays a bass attributed to quenoil, but as you know it is not one of the three (or was it four) fullblood ones.
They are in Paris (two of them) and one in Houston.

very low strings, cant remember what though.
I can ask some people that would know next week.
