Go to 21:12 on this video. Uh, wow.
Give me the Day of the Baphomets intro for a solid MFing groove all day. Ignore the grammar errors on the viddy; this one has the best sound without commercial obligations at the start.
It always amazed me that he played all those insane Racer X songs fingerstyle.
I really hope that Racer X can get back together for at least one more album.
i second that opinion !!! he does much more interesting stuff with the Mars Volta ...
Hehe, somehow I just knew that would be an intro to Scarified!
Sometimes I can't believe that is really the same guy.
bah, sounds like garbage to me
That racerX video sums up just about everything that was sucky about the 80's and that's coming from a fella who met his wife at a Quiet Riot concert at the Starwood in 78.
That doesn't sound anything like "2112"!
80s shredder music did not age well. I was never into this wanking stuff then and I find it unlistenable and unwatchable (and comical) now.
A bass falling down a spiral staircase onto another bass.
Haters gonna hate.
I certainly don't hate it.
There are no dynamics, it's unmusical. Is there a key center (maybe that's not important)?
As was pointed out, it hasn't aged well.
You can Hear how low his action is. Low action and a jazz neck makes that kind of playing much easier. Doesnt make it sound any better though.
What's that saying about opinions? Excuse me while I drop trow and show you mine:
Having not lived through it I can't comment on the aging process, but personally I think the music presented here is just as powerful as anything happening today, and much more powerful than the vast majority of music produced before or since.
