Hi guys, I bought one myself earlier this morning. Question: From all that I could see from my research online, all I could find was that there were 50 made a few years back, all hand wired in England. Are these the last of the run of 50, dramatically discounted, OR, are these instead Chinese production models? I figured at $349 I couldn't lose on a cool amp, so I took the plunge. Any opinions or knowledge if these are the made in England limited run model or instead a newer Chinese production model? Thanks guys!

I have committed to buying a Mesa Powerhouse 4x10(8ohm.) When I bought the amp I was thinking it was 4ohm. Think it will push it properly?

The picture of this amp is exactly like one with two 'valve pre-amp' and the digital Mibass 550 power section. There was a different shaped head with " Spyder 550" written on a chrome front panel. The M.F. version was out of stock so long I gave up and got a MAG 600. This head ought to be great!

Sooooooo, I got my Ashdown amp from the auction today. They sent me an Ashdown 550 Spyder. Not what was listed, not what I ordered. I have to call Musicians Friend and see what the deal is.

Did you try out the Spyder? What did you think?

Haven't tried it yet. Opened it and was shocked to not see an LB550. It may fit the bill for what I want anyway. Stay tuned

Please do! I've basically given up hope of getting a LB 550 but the Spyder seemed like the next closest thing to it.

I don't want the rack thing, being small is the point. I'm waiting on it arriving. Will be really very annoying if they send the entirely wrong amp when I just sold my actual Little Bastard to pay for it.

Odd, they don't even have the Spyder on their website. Geez, I hope I get the LB they offered and I purchased.

It sounds like they made a mistake on the listing. They owe you an ashdown lb550 my friend. I would create a stink until they provide you with one or something equivalent.

DARN IT! I bought one myself, it should be here by Friday. I was so excited about it being the LB550, now to find out it's the heavier (MUCH heavier) spyder is really a disappointment.

QUESTION for Outoftune.........is this the rackmount Spyder or the cased version? Also, can you confirm if your is made in England or China?

Please let me know. I will report what arrives on Friday. I really hope mine is the LB version, that's what I paid for after all.

    Thanks guys
