Just in case.......

Discussion in 'Orchestral Technique [DB]' started by David Potts, Mar 10, 2014.

  1. Just in case there is anyone out there who has not seen it yet look up The Great Double Bass Race 1978 on You Tube.

There are lots of body shirts, flared trousers and platform shoes and crazy hair styles. After all it was 36 years ago!! But there is also some wonderful bass playing that sent ripples around the world at that time and from that time on.

    Cheers, DP

Wow. Such a great video. Really inspiring playing, really interesting to see some of the big names in bass back then.

I am sure it's a slightly different animal, but it definitely makes me wonder why I haven't been to one of the ISB conventions yet.

Any thoughts on the bow angle at the 30m mark? Somewhat unhorthodox?

A few other differences too - eg bow height, bow hold, but one common denominator - great sound!

    Great video, though!
