When I playing with direct monitoring from my sound card/interface, it sounds great! But when I am monitoring from Pro Tools, my bass tone doesn't sound as crisp anymore. It like the life of it has gone away. What can be the cause of this? You will probably be thinking I am listing to two basstones with fase issues, but I am not. I am turning down the monitoring on the interface when I am monitoring from Pro Tools. It should be sounding the same isn't it? I know DAWs have latency, but that shouldn't be a problem regarding tone..
I am using an Apogee One interface.

I´m getting the same issue here. I firstly thought it would be the One, but than I tested my bass with an Apollo Twin and got exactly the same issue. I tested it with Cubase and Logic as well. Guess what? The same issue on both daw´s. Couldn´t find a solution for it yet.

Lots times we use a mixer before the PT box.
Instrument > mixer. Monitoring with 0 latency or processing, and no cpu power. Turn of monitoring in PT
PT Box L/R outputs > mixer
Direct, Aux, or Sub feeds from mixer channel (instrument channel) to PT Box.

No more wondering why it sounds funny.
