    Hi fellow Talkbassists,

Its been a while since I've posted anything (mainly because I've been extremely happy with my Lakland basses), but I'm in the market again for a relatively affordable custom bass built with fender style parts.
I know Dan Atkinson had built something similar to what I'm looking for, but I'm unsure if he does that anymore (anyone know?)

So practically I'm looking for someone who can build a budget Warmoth-like bass for me.

Anyone know/can build something upon request?

Since 1964, I have played a lot of Fender basses, (Jazz and Precision). My favorite Fender is a team-built 2011 Fender Custom Shop early '60s Jazz Relic Duotone. About $3.2K USD. I have forsaken all others for it.

Carvin SB4000 (or 4001, 5000, or , 5001). There's are basically Jazz basses & you can get custom everything for around a grand. Even with freaky top woods and inlays you're still under $1500.

I was more looking in the lines of fender style design, nothing too over-the-top. Just wondering if someone here does Warmoth builds or something similar

Subbed, because I too want to know. I am debating Warmoth just because I would like the Fender headstock, I do not want the Fender decal but I want the Fender headstock. I am concerned about contacting a builder about this since it is probably illegal to build one professionally.

Hm you may be right, unless they just disassemble the neck from the body (at least that's what I heard)

No, Warmoth and ACG and such can only use the headstock because they are officially licensed by Fender. Obviously I don't know the details of the agreement, but they almost certainly pay some sort of fee to Fender for the privilege.

There's a killer Jazz bass with a Fender neck in the classifieds right now. It's a parts bass, but damn fine parts and pretty as hell.

I'd probably look at it, but my goal is to give business to a Talkbasser who can build me the bass to my exact specs

I think its a great choice. He told me what would work and what of my ideas he thought he could make better with his knowledge. I got a bass that was set up comfortable and powerful. Everybody that has checked it out dig on it. Please keep up dated, id would like to know what model your gonna get after you decide.
