I know, these threads come up every day.

I am selling my GK MB800 (long story), and will probably just replace it with a new one. I am also considering the MB Fusion 800, but am not sure I will prefer it over the regular MB. Also, the Tecamp Puma 900 and Aguilar TH500 are possible candidates.

What I am wondering is have I overlooked anything? I am tempted by the Glock Blue Soul and Blue Sky, but both are a bit more than I am prepared to pay right now.

This head will be paired with my Barefaced Big Twin T btw.

And yes, I know that the GK offerings and the Aguilar are totally different sounding. With very few exceptions I have no problems getting tones I like from most any amp. Which is probably why I love my MB800 and my TC RH750 equally. ;)

I am not lurking or posting here as much as I used to, so please let me know if I have missed anything. Any high powered, micro heads beside the ones I have mentioned? Anything new from NAMM? Oh, and no ampeg. :bassist:

    Thanks.

Hi 4-string, I don't know of any micro amp, and as you know the MB800 kicks @$$ - but, if you haven't heard the Mesa Walkabout yet, at least give it a listen - its really sweet.

Best wishes with your search and cheers.

If you need a new head make sure you do your research first. Some of the "water saver" types have great difficulty in getting the job done. This will leave you with some undesirable "left overs"!

I want a new better working head but the wife and son like the looks of the old one. Overruled :meh: :D

Thanks Joe. The Walkabout is great I'm sure, but pricey over here. Would love to test one though. :)

The Reidmar is interesting - I would probably want more power for my main gigging amp, but who knows, it could work.

Recently acquired a Tecamp puma 900 and really happy. Its compact, sounds great right out of the box and has plenty of juice on tap. Highly recommended.

Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards the Puma. That or another MB800.

The MB Fusion is out. Extra cost and size, and I doubt those pre tubes add much that I would prefer over the regular MB.

    But that Tonehammer is intriguing..;)

I gotta ask...why no Ampeg? I used to feel that way until last week.

Carvin's offering the BX1500 for 500 bucks now. Great sound, huge power and extremely versatile.

I bet shipping on the Carvin to Norway (if they even can) would kill the cost. Service might be a real problem also in Norway.

Yeah, they're not cheap here either, and I'm only few miles from the factory.

But, they're built like a tank and they really do sound sweet.

Anyway, best wishes with your search.

Indeed. Carvin used to be available here, but not for the last 10 years or so.

I love the MB800, so I will be absolutely happy if I end up with another one. Just want to check my options before I pull the trigger. ;)
