Oly White here with Stan Hinesley pickups, standard bridge, '75 Reissue Precision neck and Hipshot tuners/xtender.
Still stock except for the strings and plays and sounds great!
count me in..
stock, except for nordstrand pickups....
man..i'd sell everything i have to get this bass..i love them.
My modded MM:
With: Seymour Duncan SJB-1 Pickups, badass II changed to traditional fender bridge and modded electronics: Active/Passive switch, VOL-VOL-TONE-Bass/Treble
...sorry for bad image :/
That picguard on the MM sig bass is so ugly dude... The stright angle cut at the brige pickup is the ugly part.
Sorax: How are the Dimarzio's? I've been thinking of them and an Aguilar pre.
That's my favorite part. Different strokes for different folks, man.
Seems to be a lot of modifications and a lot of lovely basses in this thread!
I dont own one, it will be my next bass probably, Im addicted to them, and also the pick guard is my favourite bit about them. When you play one on stage people are immediately saying "hey what bass is that" its nice to hear.
This was mine before I sold it!
Wow! Awesome to see so many modded basses!
How do they sound? How would you describe the change in pickups' effect on the overall sound of the bass? Nice pic by the way
They are really quite good. The improvement over the stock pickups literally blew me away. It's a great sounding bass stock, but in my experience this simple mod added depth and clarity - it made the stock units sound tinny!
I also rewired with a star ground, as there was some funny grounding business going on, and this also helped clean up the sound a bit. I'd recommend any of you look at this. It seems that the 5 string version is wired with a star ground, and unless mine is an exception the 4 string (ie Japanese, not American) isn't.
Btw, this photo makes me wish I'd gone with the burst finish
heres my marcus miller jazz.bartolini pick up and preamp (tct) marcus miller used this preamp and bill bartolini who did the custom on my electronics
And I bought it!
Unfortunately, I am selling it to fund my Sadowsky GAS.
It was a VERY tough choice -- it is one of the Sweetest MM's I've ever played.
I really want a MM Fiver, but they are about 2x as much as the 4 string version. The Local GC has a MM Five in Shoreline Gold that I loved, but 1600 is too rich for my blood right now.
