MarkBass speaker upgrade?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by tommy gilstrap, Mar 2, 2014.

  1. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for upgrade replacement 12" speakers for my MarkBass CMD 121 combo and NY 121 extension cab?

Unfortunately I won't be much help finding replacements, but if I may ask, what problem(s) did you run into with the speakers? I'm just about to pull the trigger on a NY121 myself.

BUT unless the replacement drivers chosen will actually work well in the MB cabinetry you could well be implementing a downgrade!.

+1 the original drivers are the perfect match to the cab. Short of measuring carefully the internal dimensions, including any porting, and modeling the replacement candidates with something like WinISD, you could very well end up with a much less inspiring bass cab. Are the original drivers blown? What do you hope to gain?
  7. Agree before opening thread that the original speakers are the optimum choice for these cabs and in fact the beauty of the Markbass . Lightweight , powerful and neutral . IMO.

Doesn't Markbass use B&C (Italy) speakers?
US Speakers carry those, but you want to get the same, or very similar, replacement. . . does MB sell replacements?
