Ok, so I need a new cab to go with the new mesa m9.

We play mostly classic rock, alternative etc. I am looking for a nice tight punch with some bottom.

Which cab, in your opinion, would be best. Please no crazy priced, only available in Timbukto suggestions. Stuff that can easily and reasonably, not necessarily cheaply, be procurred in North America.

    Thanks in advance

Nothing wrong with Mesa/Ampeg cabs for rock.

A Pair of Mesa PH112 cabs would be a nice start... And pretty loud too..

Exactly. You just bought an expensive head. What do you consider expensive for a cab?

I'd stop right there and see how that sounds.

I got my two for around $1800.

    I went with the Mesa 2x12 4ohm.

I love my Mesa PH412 with my Mesa amps. Sounds exactly how you want, "nice tight punch with some bottom."

I have an eden xst410, but its 8 ohms, so I'm losing half the output of the M9. I have not tried that combo yet, so I may still just go with that.

I can pick up a Mesa ph 810 or 610 used, both in very good condition for about $750 each. Man are they heavy.........

But for budget purposes, say $2000 tops. Light is good too.

Never used 12's, maybe something to try

    Thanks

I think you would be very pleased with the PH412 or a G-K NEO412 (about 94 Lbs IIRC on the series II).

Yup. Insanely loud. I used to use an SVT7 into a Genz Benz 610, and had to turn up to about noon on the master and 2:00 on the gain (with the pad engaged...very clean tone). With the M6/ 212 combo, most of the time both are at 9 o'clock. It's ridiculous really.

I also have a PH610 with my PH412 but really prefer the 412 as I find it has more of a natural aggressive tone which is what I'm going for, but the 610 is no slouch..

I think the 810 would be a killer cab but the weight is just way too much for me. At least Mesa puts handles in convenient places so moving the cabs isn't too bad, but I find my PH412 easier to move then my 610 and it's my go to cab for practices and shows.

The other cab I would consider is the GKNeo412.

Also, $750 for the PH810 is a killer deal.

A 4 ohm 410 plus an 8 ohm 210, made by the same firm with the same drivers gives you the option of bringing a 210, 410 or 610 rig. Your amp can do 2 ohm loads.

The M9 was derated to 600 watts shortly after release, an F212 SHOULD have no trouble with that.

Agreed, I also think the voicing would work well together and give a lot of good tones to work with. The compact footprint and power to weight is also killer.

Nobody is stupid enough to actually pay me to play their gear.
I have owned PH410, 115 and 210 cabs, all sounded great but are super heavy and physically big.

I found Bergantino cabs sound the best with the M9 though. Bergs are pretty common out there as well. I found a used but mint pair of AE210s for $1000 as an example.

If we are mentioning the f-word, I recommend the 15/6/1 fEARful.

I use an M9 a lot with my Greenboy cabs. I think think they're a beautiful match, at least for what I like :)
