Sorry I've been absent the past few days, I've been scrambling around behind the scenes picking up new lines and getting them to show up on our website.

I announced TC Electronic last week (bass amps here, pedals here), and today I've been getting ready to show off some Michael Tuttle Guitars. If you've not heard of him, Michael was the neck & fret guy for Don Grosch, a well-known builder of boutique guitars. Michael is on his own now, and he's still a very small operation (I just ordered Serial Number 100). His neck and fretwork is apparently sublime, and the closeup picture of the neck in this listing attests to that. I'll know for sure when this first guitar arrives next Wednesday.

Anyway, Michael also makes 4- and 5-string P & J basses, too, so I'll eventually be ordering some basses from him. Just guitars for now, but I doubt I'll be able to hold out TOO long on the bass front...

Tuttle's got some nice stuff.(You need at least one bass from him). And actually IIRC Mikey's name is Teutel, right? Hey, I might buy a bass from him before I'd buy some of his artwork.:bag:

    :D

I LIKE the way you think!

Now what in the world are all those knobs and switches about?!? That must be one crazy preamp...

I feel compelled to mention to him that they make stacked knobs :) but on the other hand, those basses just look completely bada$$... part bass, part bulldozer w/ all the hydraulic controls...

Neither of them is exactly on the mark for my picky tastes, but they are both a dang good start.

...Now where's that $3225 I left lying around?

(Also, as a fan of the movie "Brazil", I couldn't help but think about Buttle Guitars. ;))

Oh, man, the fretboard on that second one is killer. I love all that red, it's the perfect combo with that pickguard. And the pickups look beastly. Definitely not your father's Fender.

Yeah, that pre must be nutz.....

I'd assume a 3 band, master volume, blend for neck single and bridge "humbucker" a blend between the two bridge halfs, and a series/parallel switch for the bridge. And thats still a switch short.........

I don't care for the "pizza spatula" headstock. The second one is better at "flowing". The "spatula" is disproportionate, IMO.

Last switch could be active/passive? I'd want the bass to emit a long descending "whooooosh" when you put it into passive mode, though.

I'm only offering the 4x1 5 string headstock now, It's more uniformed with my 4 string.

    Mike,

Just a visual thing for me. I have no idea how the performance of the two styles differ.

    But thanks for responding. :)

Ah - thanks for the info, Michael. Good to see you on TalkBass! I can ask you this privately or publicly... might as well do it publicly so everyone else learns at the same time

Do you have a specific list of electronics packages that you offer for basses, or is each bass pretty much customizable in terms of the pickups and preamp you install?

And do your customers provide the electronics, or do you source them?
