I bought this from the original owner who bought it in 1966 and was a guitar player. He kept it under the bed and was only used occasionally when his uncle came over for family events. Really incredible condition for a 66. Never ran across one this nice. Plays and sounds so good.

    Weight. 8lbs 10oz
    Strung with labella flats
No noticeably fret wear and no discernible dead spots, nice action
Case is an original 1965 OEM case
    All original
Appraised and confirmed by Elderly Music in 2005

    $5400 shipped

I'm selling to pay some family bills. I would be interested in a 2013 Mia pbass and cash. Or by chance a decent double bass and cash.

Wow... takes me back to the identical '66 P I bought in '86 for $500... and sold in '88 for $600. :bawl:
This was all before 'post-CBS' (or on the cusp) was considered 'desirable'.
    How things have changed...

    Gorgeous bass.

WOW! Are you serious? That is a give-it-away price!

A photo of the back of the body would be good.

If my finances were in a bit better shape that P would be coming my way.

The '66 P was the last year for the P Bass to made made just like a pre-CBS ('63-'64 models).

I'm lucky enough to own an all original (minus thumb bar and pickguard screws) '66 candy apple red P but it's certainly is not in as good as condition as yours!

Nice bass and nice price! A Fender Custom Shop P is around $4 grand and yours is a true blue vintage!

Thanks all! Yes, this is an absolutely incredible bass due to it being in such good shape for a bass approaching 50 years old. Nice low even action and I dont think the truss rod has ever been adjusted it appears. Only reason Im selling is to get into a nice double bass. Or would keep this historic bass for sure.

Some incredible trade offers. Really most interested in cash to fund toward a nice old german upright. I have my electric bass needs covered with my main MTD 635 (love that bass - does it all for me).:bassist:
