Hello Folks, i've just recieved my new Monocase Vertigo Bass Gig Bag (Grey with red boot) this gigbag is AMAZING!

The look of it is hi-fi modern style as perhaps you may have seen, the overall look of the bag is super nice, the red boot, the diagonal sewing, the "Mono" letters in front, and the minimalistic aspect make you look like you are in a modern fresh life style haha!

I'd say that this bag is 9 of 10 regarding Construction and durability, just because once i saw a Reunion Blues Continental, and honestly was the bag with the best finish i've ever seen, but this Monocase is just half step down, everything seems very durable, the fabric is robust,, the thread they use is like heavy duty, everything is well sewn, the boot is the same material of shoes sole, however is a little softer, its big and very sturdy, putting the bass in the floor is no more a concern with this bag, you can easly drop it from 20cm and nothing will happen, the straps are very comfortable, but not too padded.

From inside, it's almost the same as the M80, nice soft fabric, and there's an extra padding at the bottom that you can remove and adjust its position with the velcro it has side to side

This bag is definitely more slim, there's not too much room for the instrument to move inside, my 35' scale 5string bass fits perfect but no more than that, the headlock system is nice but in my opinion the back piece of it, its a little too high, so when you put the bass inside and close the bag, creates some kind of "bulge" in the middle of the case if you see it from the side, but that's only aesthetics issues, the upper piece of the headlock seem to support up to 6 strings broadneck, or a 17mm 7 strings necks maximum, but i'm not sure, i've not measured that!

When you wear the bag, it feels great and comfortable, the only thing that bothers me is that it stays too high above my head, about 30cm, and i am 6,7 feet tall, but i guess i have to get used, the bag is ligthweight in general.

The front pocket is surprisingly large, fits 3 cables, a strap like the betty strap also from Mono (Bought one too), and some book easily, fit also a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 Head alone, awesome!

I hope this help you, and sorry for the bad english!

Got one yesterday, also grey color but the boot seems orange to me...
Anyway, so far it's the best bag I've ever had. I love the extra bottom protection!
The only downside is that the neck support piece will accommodate a 4 string neck but is not wide enough for my 5 string. My 6 string neck won't fit in at all. It still holds the basses in place just fine when zipping it up. The result is that "bulge" FunkyMan has mentioned. Otherwise everything is perfect, I'm very happy with it.

I said it before, I'll say it again: If Mono ever introduces a Dual version of the Vertigo I will buy one in a heartbeat!

So I guess my new 6 string bass neck won't fit.

I have a Ken Smith 6 string. I seriously doubt that it will fit in the vertigo case. I guess I will have to just go for the M80. I just don't like hardshell cases at all so I'm just gonna get a very stable thick gig bag.

Has anyone found that the "Headlock" stains the back of the neck of your bass? It happened to me. I was wondering if it's just me or if this is an issue.

I literally just noticed it today on my bass. Can I wipe it off, or is it a permanent stain?

I think ima put something between the neck and the headlock. I knew I should have bought the reunion blues bag.

Actually, I started placing a towel between the bass and the neck of the bass. And I totally agree about the Reunion Blues bag. That was my first thought when I saw the stain. What's worse is that I only had my bass for a week when this happened.

    Hey Guys,

Just want to chime in here and allow people to ask any questions that they may have.

We have found that in a few rare cases, there is an adverse reaction between the material on our Vertigo's headlock and some neck finishes.
We have since changed the material that we use on our headlock. This will eliminate the issue.
If anyone here is experiencing a staining issue, I urge them to contact us directly and we will figure out a solution.
    support@monocreators.com

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Brett

I bought the case for a brand new Ken Smith bass. Within a few days, I saw black dye on the neck of my bass. Needless to say I was infuriated. Brand new $6k bass already marked up. I tried to clean it and nothing worked. I just put a towel between my bass and neck holder.

I actually love Mono cases. I also have 2 more basses on order, so I will be buying another one soon.

I have three Mono cases, two M80s and one Vertigo. I have had the staining issue with all three and started placing a towel between the neck and support as well. I had to use 1000 grit sandpaper to remove the stain.

Why not post instructions how to identify the series that has the defective material?
How can we easily identify the new series that does not stain?

Just bought a used VGC Vertigo gb from another tb member. I'm very impressed w/the quality and design from the thick padding to the headlock system to the boot. After reading the post about neck staining, I sent an email to Brett at Mono to find out if my particular bag is the old staining material or the updated non-staining fabric. (I was told by the seller it is only 4 months old) I'll post once I hear back from him.

I have a number of gb's from inexpensive/serviceable to this one and other than my G&L (which I use the most) the Vertigo looks to be the most protective.

The only thing this bag doesn't have that the G&L has that I like is a coat-rack hook w/it's own stash pocket when not in use like on my G&L gb.

The Verigo only has a small plastic D loop at the top, but this can be remedied by clipping on a paint-can hook commonly found in paint stores which can be removed and stashed in the pouches. I use it mostly for hanging the empty bag when storing but it's stable enough to hang w/a bass inside. (like for storing up front on a plane in the coat rack)
