Here is a live board feed mix of us performing "Roundabout" that made it on Paul's new record. It was recorded somewhere in Europe on the Fuzz Universe tour, not sure what city though.
All the keyboard parts are played on guitar, no overdubs or studio magic.

Bad ass. Probably the best cover of Roundabout I have ever heard.

    Thank you guys!
BTW, the bass and rig set up was an Ibanez Iceman bass with EMG's, MXR GT-OD pedal, OCD pedal (for volume boost), into a Marshall VBA-400 head/cab.

Who says you need a Ric to play Yes songs? Certainly not me! Nice job, bro!

Haha Thanks Jimmy! Or a pick, I'm useless with a pick. :bag:

Chris's thumb/pick technique sounds a lot like heavy fingerstyle to me anyway.

Yeah, that sounded great to me, and I've seen Chris play this at least 50 times. And Paul is a great, great guy, can't say enough about him :)

Always thought the same thing Floyd. I thought he was just punishing the bass with his fingers before I ever saw him actually play.

Wow, that's pretty cool that you've seen Chris Squire play so many times!! :) Yes, Paul is beyond comprehension. Just amazing, always encouraging everyone around him to be better at what they do. Very blessed to have played/recorded/and toured so much with him and his band.

Chris is one of the reasons I bought my 4001 way back in the early 80s ( still my main bass by the way). Somehow I inadvertently copped his pick technique along the way too. I really had no idea about it until a few years ago and I have almost always employed it. I guess I couldn't quite decide between pick or fingers. lol

Safe to say the technique chose you! Just trying to get the sound you hear in your head to come out of the bass.

I'm sure that's true. Funny, even when I play straight fingerstyle I curl my pick up in my hand. I tried playing fingerstyle without the pick in my hand and I guess I hold my hand differently or something because it is less comfortable and I am much sloppier.

I always just assumed I was a mutant of some sort. lol

Whatever works, is what works! Love it, do your thing how you do it. In my opinion, this is what music is all about. Get what's in your heart and mind to be heard through sounds you create. No matter how you play, or what instrument it comes through. :)
