Does anybody have any suggestions on a replacement? I only had it a couple of years. The plastic housing on the input jack had already broken. I like the sound on EH stuff but I'm not sure about replacing it with a new EH unit.
I am interested in all kinds of devices. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I was looking at the Carl Martin BassDrive, for one.

    Thank you in advance.

Well, good riddance on the Metaphors, it was a piece of crap and you're better off without it.

As far as a replacement, it depends on a lot of factors that you are going to have to spell out if you want any decent advice.
    Budget?
Which specific features do you NEED, versus just "nice to have"?
Context (playing at home, coffee shops, clubs, what genre, what is the rest of your rig)?
Tones you like? Distortion, light OD, clean, modern, vintage?

You tell us what you want, we can tell you who makes it. You don't tell us anything, we can't tell you anything. :)

I used it all the time, actually. I used it at home with my Ampeg B100R, with my Markbass/Ampeg 810 rig, and as a preamp with one particular band, where we all play right into a computer. In playing right into the computer, it was nice to use it as a preamp also, in order to get a decent line level, otherwise I could never hear myself right.
I used the overdrive a lot, as well as the extra gain, in order to beef up the tone on both my Cabronita and my Jazz. I do prefer the vintage tone, although the heavy OD on the Metaphors just sounded like garbage, so I rarely went past more than a quarter way up on that.
Although I do sort of prefer the vintage sort of OD, I really just want to find a better unit that has a wide degree of functions and a better quality reputation. Before that I had a Fulltone Bass Drive but sold it like a dummy.
I hope that's enough information for now. My brain is still turning on.

You should certainly shop around for other options. There's lots of great stuff like that out there! But we also do repairs on out-of-warranty units for a reasonable (IMO) price. PM me for details! I'm always glad to help out a fellow TBer.

Thanks to all so far for the replies.
Not trying to come down on EH, either. I have a Russian Small Stone that I love.

I will check out all the suggestions I can. Interested to hear them all.

Didn't think you were, no worries! Just wanted to make sure you knew about the EHX repair option. I think a lot of people are unaware of it.

Best of luck with whatever you decide on!

What do you actually want the pedal for?

The previous one I used for overdrive, EQ, and the extra gain/line level for recording straight into my friend's breakout box. I would like to find a pedal that still does those things, which is why I was looking at the Carl Martin Bass Drive, as it looks like it does those things.

Something to know about Carl Martin pedals: most of them are are great, but they have terrible resale value. I don't know why. So only buy them used, where they are a great deal; and never buy them new, because if you decide later to resell it you will be sad at the money lost.

There are a lot of options that provide overdrive, EQ, and line level output; one that I happen to like, that has good resale, is the Rusty Box. Those Tech21 and Darkglass units are also a safe bet.

Noted about the Carl Martin, thank you. Not seeing any used, either, so good to know.
I am definitely going to check out Tech 21. There's a used one for sale near me. Thanks to all for the advice.
