On Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 12:20 pm, my father died.

I didn't get the news until about 5:00.

My wife had scheduled a band rehearsal. I decided to go ahead with it,

I gave Krystal and Arthur pieces of paper with the following chords written on them:

    Bm A E F# D G E A F# Bm G F# Em D F#

They said, "what's this?" and I told them to just play through them, playing the F# at the end for two measures instead of one, and just keep bringing up the intensity.

I told Scott to think of Nick Mason, doing a straight beat, and just keep making it heavier, bringing more and more fills.

    And then I sang.

    Bye daddy.

  4. Dude, hugs and lots of love to you.

I dread the day I am in your position. It will not likely be far away.

As a Scotsman, he wouldn't have wanted you to do it differently. We, the Irish, are similar.

Celebrate his life and mourn not his death.

My best to you, and that is all.

    Damn.

    MY condoleances.

Cherish the memories. That's all people are once gone. And that can be quite a lot. To be alive in people's thoughts. And then of course there's what he made you as a person. Part of what we are is what our parents were. How they shaped us. For better or worse.

  6. BYE, DADDY indeed....and i am sure he was proud of you right to the end

both my parents lived with us until the day they passed, and i remember it like it was yesterday....

think back on the good times and know that if there is an afterlife, he is looking down on you and smiling....as i said before, if you have kids, be sure and tell them what a great guy your old man was, and know that your grief shall pass....not right away, but in time

good vibes, man...i know what it feels like

  9. I'm sorry. You and he were fortunate to have had each other. I wish I'd had the sort of relationship with my father as you had with yours. You were lucky. Be glad for that.

  10. My deepest and most sincerest condolences. It's OK to cry...

Sorry to hear. My dad's passing was 10 years ago. Seems like yesterday... Hang in man, time knocks the rough edges off and what remains is the love.

  17. Condolences Mellowinman. I lost my dad last year, nephew this month. Nothing surer that we're all going to go, but it really hurts,

  18. Dad has been gone for 10 years, mom for 15.

It will always sting a little bit, but it won't always hurt as much as it does today. Be thankful for the time you have had with the ones who are gone. Be joyful daily with the others who are still with you.

Sorry, Brother. Condolences to you and all of your loved ones.

Sidenote: That is one of the most intense segments of 'Live at Pompeii'. Thanks for posting, and take care.
