Bought a couple of parts basses, or bass parts of the boards recently and gave them a facelift. Custom paint by TB's own StreetScenes, Darkstar by Curtis Novak and custom pickguard by Mike Quick. Both basses have brand new hipshot vintage footprint tuners and the P has a drop D tuner. Still might do a couple things to the fretless and replace the bridge on the P... But for now they are both awesome. GO DUCKS!

Both are pretty but I really like the P-Bass. Had a '70 Oldsmobile Cutlass S with a W30 455 engine in it in a similar green. Bet that P rocks as hard as that car was fast. Damn nice basses!

Oh man! I bet that was a hot car!

I am after a 70 Chevelle....well......maybe...would like one if I could convince my wife to allies me to spend that much on a "collector car"...

The green is actually some sort of car color... Its not quite the green I was intending, but I still think it looks great. I wick I could get a pic to show all the pearl and sparkle in those finishes.

    Hey: cool builds!

Totally not a fan of colored strings my own self, but they suit your concepts; so, there ya go!

Yeah, the only reason they have colored strings is because bassstringsonline.com was running a great special on them. I also got a set of white, but I have no idea what I will do with those...

Thanks everyone. For the record, the Novak darkstar in the green bass is absolutely the real deal. I know a lot of people were bummed when Fred stopped making pickups, but Curtis has definitely carried on the bisonic legacy. I got to play the bass a little bit when I completed it, but it wasn't until last night that I could really get into it and I couldn't put it down.

That works. You need to take a picture of the whole collection some day. I doubt there's gonna be a more colorful family photo than yours.

Except the sonic blue bass needs a rosewood neck!

The strings are the finishing touch IMHO.

    Excellent pair of basses.

Thank man. I like the strings too, kinda cheesy, but hey I had basses painted sparkle green and yellow... haha.

As for the sonic w/ maple. I did that because Geddy Lee's new bass out of the custom shop is surf green w/ maple & pearl B&B neck and i thought it looked cool. I have a surf green JJ w/ RW B&B on order from John and Bluesman Vintage as well.

Any chance of a sound clip of the P? I'd love to hear the Novak Darkstar!
