OK, I think I scored a major coup. I've been in the market for a back-up bass for a while, and I've had to pass on a couple used basses I've found on CL for one reason or another. I kept telling myself that I missed those other opportunities because something better was bound to show up. Today it did. I bought a Washburn Force ABT for $120.00 from a private seller on CL. I thought the electronics might have been wonky on it, but fortunately I was wrong. All I did to it is replace the set screws on the bridge, replaced the battery, added Dunlop Strap Locks, added new DR Nickel Lo-Riders, and cleaned the dickens out of it. The thing plays like a dream! The action is good but needs a slight truss rod adjustment, the intonation is almost dead-on, and the sound is amazing! It's also a LOT more forgiving when fretting notes, and I don't have to be nearly as careful in order to avoid fret buzz. I'd say the neck is like a cross between a Fender P bass and a jazz bass. It's not as fast as my other bass, but I imagine I'll get used to it. It doesn't have that classic Fender "growl" that I like, but hey, that's why we get more than one bass right? This thing may become my primary player!
