Burned a little bit of valuable Xmas money and picked up this Ampeg Micro VR stack on Kijiji for $400.

I really only wanted the cab, so my plan was to ditch the head and use the proceeds to pick up an MB Fusion or TH500, but for now I'm liking the fact that this one has a built in headphone amp.

Haha yeah me too, desperately needed something more portable and jam-friendly than my 2x15.

Thanks guys. I don't see myself gigging with this rig with any of my current bands, so it would be tough to justify, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good deal on a second cab for sure.

  9. Very nice!
Just ordered a 210AV myself last Friday.

Don't bother trying to justify it! When I got mine, I plugged it in just to make sure it worked and went right to the stage with it! They looked at me funny until we started playing ;)

Jimmy, I think your musical situation may be a tad bit different than mine, but I'm sure if I got creative I could come up with a way to incorporate these in addition to my 2x15. Possibly use the crossover in my poweramp to send lows to the 2x15 and mids/highs to the sealed 2x10 stack. That might be cool. Hmmmmm

So I jammed last night for the first time with my Ampeg mini, and I have to say it sounds really great. Not sure if the magic is in the head, or the cab, or both, but I'm loving it.

Just for fun, I dimed the volume at one point and the tone only improved as it got louder.

Great choice! I have the Micro VR stack as well, with the 2 cabs, and love it.

Just hit the studio and brought the cab and some nice low-powered tube gear to add some extra character over the DI tone. Sounds great so far.

How big of a venue do u think the micro with two cabs can handle? Wouldn't 200 watts always be enough for stage if you have good PA support?

Doubtful, I run a PF-500 w/ my (2) 210's at times, and depending on the act, it can run out of gas at times.

I think it's more a question of "how loud is the rest of your band on stage?"

If I were to even think of playing live with this rig I'd want a second cab to stack up closer to ear level.
