Have you ever been listening to a song, and thought "Hey, I would have played (written) a completely different bass line!" Maybe the bass line is just too weak and boring...or simply overwrought / over played / the groove doesn't fit the song.

I'm NOT speaking to poor recording as much as I'm talking about bad composition relative to the song. And, if possible, can you think of songs that are popular or semi popular? What might YOU have done differently?

    I like giving it a half-time feel.

The Killers - Jenny was a Friend of Mine

There are these ascending noodles on the three-and-four of the first two bars of each verse that sound arbitrary and just plain wrong to my ears. The first time I heard it, I thought that I could imagine having tried it, but I'd have rejected it and tried something else, probably without even needing to hear playback.

    But that's just me.

"Rapper's Delight" was recorded before Doug began playing for Sugar Hill Records. The bassist on that session was Chip Shearin.

The original version of Van Morrison's Moondance, has probably the worst sounding/feeling walking line ever.
