Hey everyone, had a long trip today. Just wanted to share one of the basses I traded for while I was out! Thanks for looking!

What a great bass. All the Triumph's I've heard had a woodiness thing going, kinda burpy tone.

Thanks guys! It's definitely the clearest Gibson bass I've played/owned.

    Congrats!

That is in incredible condition for a forty-one year old bass!

Ah, you have one too! Very cool! I have rarely seen these mentioned on TB. Then again, I didn't really go serching either. The neck is great on this thing, and I'm sure it is on yours also.

  11. although i can't seem to find it now, i read an issue of bass guitar magazine where alex james of blur (unless i'm confusing him with someone else; entirely possible) found one of these and they had affectionately named it the "bad mutha****a"! congrats, nice find!

Ever since those were first introduced, I've wanted to try one out. I like the look, like the lo-impedance pickup concept, but have never had the opportunity to actually play one.

Super nice! If the Les Pauls Gibson is making today looked like that, I'd be in the market for one.

well let's face it, there's not much Gibson love on this board. :D the guys that have played 'em know what they're all about!

Your's looks great! And you're right, Gibsons certainly aren't a popular choice on this board.

Thank you very much! Supposedly it was formerly owned by a collector, which would explain the fine condition of the bass and case.

For future reference, anybody have any string recommendations for this bass?

  20. I would try tapewounds, possibly the new La Bella White tapes-hearing good things on those-but I've had good results with Fender, Rotosound , and DR Black Beauty.

Thank you, I've never actually purchased tapewounds, so that might be a nice change of pace anyways. I love DR roundwounds, so I might give the Black Beauties a spin with the time comes.
