My first and hopefully my last, because I know how GAS works, and its a scary thing haha.

Anyways... I started this thread a couple days ago, asking questions about a G&L SB-1 on my local CL.

I checked it out tonight and ended up taking it home with me... I paid $290 for it. The ad on craigslist said it needed new pickups and new electronics, but when I get there he hands my a bag and says "the original pickups and the electronics are all here for you"

So i just got done wiring it up, and this thing GROWLS big time. Sounds like i'm running through an overdrive or something, its amazing tone. Super deep with a nice sparkle on top.

The downside is that, these aren't the MFD pickups... they're the original Schallers that came with these bases in 1985. http://www.ggjaguar.com/sb-1-85.htm (basically this bass exactly)

Some bumps and bruises, but I'll be taking this on the road with my anyways, so I'll be adding my own bumps and bruises.

$290 for what I thought was going to be a project, and it turns out it just needed to be put back together. It does need a new PG though, so I'll be ordering one soon.

These basses are the real deal—I'd be happy that it is sporting the original pickups.

Congrats and play the heck out of it!

When it comes to P-Basses, I'm a straight up Fender guy.

However, I used one of these in the studio while recording an album with my former band, and it KILLED!

    Nice score, man!!! Congrats!!!
