NBD - my first since joining this board

    My first and hopefully my last, because I know how GAS works, and its a scary thing haha.

    Anyways... I started this thread a couple days ago, asking questions about a G&L SB-1 on my local CL.

    I checked it out tonight and ended up taking it home with me... I paid $290 for it. The ad on craigslist said it needed new pickups and new electronics, but when I get there he hands my a bag and says "the original pickups and the electronics are all here for you"

    So i just got done wiring it up, and this thing GROWLS big time. Sounds like i'm running through an overdrive or something, its amazing tone. Super deep with a nice sparkle on top.

    The downside is that, these aren't the MFD pickups... they're the original Schallers that came with these bases in 1985. http://www.ggjaguar.com/sb-1-85.htm (basically this bass exactly)

    Some bumps and bruises, but I'll be taking this on the road with my anyways, so I'll be adding my own bumps and bruises.

    $290 for what I thought was going to be a project, and it turns out it just needed to be put back together. It does need a new PG though, so I'll be ordering one soon.

    These basses are the real deal—I'd be happy that it is sporting the original pickups.

    When it comes to P-Basses, I'm a straight up Fender guy.

    However, I used one of these in the studio while recording an album with my former band, and it KILLED!

    Nice score, man!!! Congrats!!!
