I have gone on a Roscoe binge as of late.... I have wanted one for years and finally after a subtle hint that was planted by Jon Packard and I am totally on board with Roscoe basses. I just got my fourth and it is a Rocket Music Limited Edition Buckeye Burl top, Mahogany body 5 string with Aguilar DCB pups and Aguilar preamp. Man, I can't tell you how much I dig this bass. First off, I love the top. I have always loved burl tops and this one is in a class of its own. The mahogany body is the key... makes it a tone monster. The lows are so deep, rich and focused. The Aguilar pickups are the icing on the cake. They are rich full and clear with an organic warmth that the Barts dont have (and I am a HUGE fan of the Barts). They do not have the compressed Bart sound... much more open and natural sounding. This is a straight up home run in my book. Oh and the B string.... on most 5 and 6 string basses... I use the B string sparingly and just stay around the D for the sweet spot..... on the Roscoes.... you can use all of the B string! Gettin it!
