A few weeks ago, I bought a USA Custom swamp ash jazz body in sonic blue from a TB'er. I then bought these brand new items and installed them:

    • USA Fender Jazz maple neck
    • Badass III bridge (string thru body)
    • Lollar jazz bass pickups
    • Chrome control plate with CTS VVT pots (tone has Sprague Orange Drop cap)
    • Cloth covered wiring throughout
    • Fender Deluxe Schaller Lite tuners
    • Fender string tree
    • Fender chrome "ashtray" pickup cover
    • Black brass thumbrest
    • DR Sunbeam strings
I am very happy with the end result. The bass weighs exactly 8.0 pounds thanks to the swamp ash body. And the Lollars make this bass sound fantastic. I have always wanted a sonic blue fender jazz with high quality components, and now I have one that rocks. Me happy!

The first pic is from the thread from which I purchased the body. The other pics were taken today. Click on the pics to enlarge...

Very nice. Did you have the pickups wound in any particular way?

    Thanks Templar!

Nope. I just ordered the standard Lollar jazz pickups off of Jason's website. I have ordered those before (a few years back) for another bass, and I was extremely happy with those. Best pickups I have ever heard! So I was very comfortable going with his standard jazz winding this time around as well.

Sonic Blue is one of my favorites also. :) I'm glad that you were finally able to bring your dream into reality. Jason does make some fine pickups. I think your eyes, ears, fingers, and shoulder (nice low weight!) are going to be happy with this one!!!

Thanks, yours is absolutely beautiful also. I am looking for a used set of Fender Noiseless pickups for that bass, but other than that it is finished.

Man that is badass...70s pickup spacing and matching headstock and pearloid blocks...im speechless. I see you have 3 stacked knobs...do u have a preamp in their? Preamps can amplify the singlecoil hum if u play far from 50/50 blend...

In fact that all 70s..neck, thumb rest position, the machined one groove string ferrels but with the sweet nitro finish instead of poly huh?
