We had the family over on Christmas Eve. One of my sons told me that he was talking to a friend of his and the guy mentioned that he had an old bass that he was going to sell. He told my son that he would sell it to him for ~1/2 of what it might bring on ebay and let him try it out. After my son showed me the pics I had him pick up the bass and this is what he came back with. It is in a lot rougher shape than the pics show but I'm not letting it leave. It should officially be mine in a day or so.

How much was 1/2 the "ebay" price? thats a awesome bass but if someone told me half the ebay price I would be slightly scared as I see what gets posted on ebay and the price is often ridiculous.

I found some comparables in the completed auctions - the serial numbers were even close. Ventures models list for a lot more than post-Ventures. The one I'm using as a reference sold for $700 and I'm estimating this one woould sell for $600 - $700 given the condition so my son is relaying a price of $300. I don't think I will have to come up on the price but even $400 would be a great deal.

I didn't use the "last" Ventures model listed at $50,000 as a reference. :D

I'd pay $3-400 for that. The parts alone would be worth it.

I'd buy it to make and keep it playable. I've always wanted a Mosrite Bass.

Thats a great price I would be happy to grab it for even $400, those are such iconic and awesome looking basses. I know a guy with one but he wants other a grand for it.

I've done a lot of cleanup on the bass in the last week. Here are some before and after pics of some of the pieces.
