Let's use this one to discuss college football up and through the final bowl game.

It all kicks off with a game probably only Pilgrim and I care about here, Washington State/Colorado State. Quite an accomplishment for WSU and Mike Leach to get in a bowl game.

Miami/Louisville will be a good one that I'm hoping to watch.

Oregon/Texas will be another good one. I hope UT wins there.

I'll be pulling for Auburn on New Years Day, errrr January 6th. I still don't like them dragging out that game another week.

Cool! Long way to go at this point. I hate this delay, but oh well.

Auburn better beat the Noles! They don't want that egg on their face. War Eagle, or something like that!

I'm kind of bummed we are getting Oklahoma in the Sugar, but at least it's big name and not some small school. I don't want to disrespect the Sooner fans here, but on paper at least this shouldn't be much of a matchup. We'll see how each team shows up though.

Yup, followed by Stanford and Michigan State. Those are by FAR the two games I'm most interested in on New Year's Day.

OK State and Mizzou may be intriguing. Ohio State and Clemson could set some scoring and yardage records.:D

For me it's far more interesting than Alabama FSU would have been. or Alabama OSU or Alabama (insert any contender). I can safely ignore the Tide this year. BCS Championship will be fun, MSU Stanford will be awesome, Bucky with a chance to stick it to Spurrier is great too although if it doesn't go how I want it it will suck. I think Clemson will destroy OSU.

Mostly just happy football is out of the way so I can focus my fandom on my undefeated college hoops team.

I'm.... just going to hope OU can keep it within 2 touchdowns. :atoz:

I'm most looking forward to FSU-Auburn, Wisconsin-SCar, OK State-Mizzou, Clemson-Ohio State, Nebraska-Georgia, and Stanford-Michigan State. And as I'm looking at FSU for PhD studies I'm kind of hoping they win. I can't say I'm thrilled about Baylor-UCF; I know if it weren't for BCS auto-bids we would have had Baylor-Oregon and a combined score of 140 :D

You're probably right that only we care....but I have my hotel reservations, annual leave applied for, and tickets coming for the New Mexico Bowl.

Others here don't know that I'm not only a lifelong hard-core WSU Cougar, I work at Colorado State University. The WSU-CSU bowl matchup is one where I can't lose!

I have issued a widespread challenge to my CSU friends to show up in strength at the bowl game and make it clear that CSU can travel - it's only 500 miles from here. I guarantee that Albuquerque will be full of Cougs wearing Crimson.

I will be wearing WSU Crimson to work every day until the bowl game!!

It should be a good game - CSU has a solid running game with a 1500-yard rusher and a 3000 yard passer...and WSU has the Mike Leach Air Raid and set the NCAA record for single game pass attempts this year - 89 passes in a single game, with 58 completions. And four of WSU's losses were to Oregon, Stanford, Arizona and Auburn (by the same margin that Alabame lost to Auburn.)

Don't miss it, friends - Noon MT (2 PM ET) on Saturday December 21...first bowl game of the season! :hyper:

Incidentally, since I spent 13 years at A&M, I hope t.u. goes down in flames to Oregon. :p

Pretty much everyone I know in the Big 12 (except for UT grads) and my friends at A&M, Mizzou, and Nebraska want to see Texas get smoked in San Antonio.

Speaking of which, my roommate will be going to the Alamo Bowl decked out in OU gear (he was on the second string D line from 2006 to 2008).

I have to pull for CSU because of McElwain, but I'm a fan of Leach also. It'll be a fun game I think.

On the Heisman debate, I really think AJ deserves to win this trophy. Even though Winston was cleared of the rape charges, the facts surrounding the incident still paint him in a very demoralizing light. I can't see how anyone would vote for him and be able to sleep at night. The award is supposed to represent many things, and I just honestly can't see anyone else in the lineup who stands for all of those things except AJ. Maybe that's my bias, and I didn't feel that way last year. This year though is a different story.

Now that's a football challenged resume if there ever was one! Yeah, I'm a Husky, so I have to rub salt in the wounds as much as possible, because I'll probably be sporting the WSU wounds next season, what with the air raid thing getting established in Pullman.

So, I will be paying attention to the whatever it is bowl with UW against BYU. I don't even know that much about BYU this season. The best part, to me, is that Marcus Tuiasosopo will be the acting head coach for that game. He was a class act when he was a Husky and he still is. If the coach had to disappear suddenly like he did, having a guy like Tui in a position to step in is a real blessing. I guess Chris Peterson will be a spectator.

Alabama, again, offered Saban a contract extension. They must be nervous. :D

Your opinion and mine match on that. I think next year's Apple Cup looks pretty good for the Cougs at this point. Those outside Washington may now realize how intense that game is. It's a dandy!

I think Peterson will do OK there, but as usual, it takes a while to get things set up. He's certainly in a better position than Sark was after Willingham.

BYU can be a tough customer. They smacked the Cougs up 'longside the head when they last played.

BTW - nice to see a discussion that's not all SEC in one of these threads.

Supposedly the first contract was offered and Saban has intent to sign, but he has literally not been in town since it was given to him last Friday. Saban also has a "gentlemen's agreement" with the university that the administration will strive to make him the highest paid coach in the country. It's speculated that the the second contract offer is a reflection of that. I'm also sure he's using the Texas thing as a tool to make more money. Can't blame him for that as he's more than worth it. I use the same tactics with my employer every January even though I love where I work. The way I show my love for my job is to do it great and make my clients love the company I work for. The way my employer shows me he loves me is to give me increasing amounts of money every year, or I find someone else who will.

I don't disagree. It's just fun to watch the posturing and news reports as an unbiased observer.
