Game of the Week has to be Alabama and Texas A&M.

I can't wait to see what kind of game plan Muschamp has for BYE.

Get ready for Johnny Cam! No doubt this is the game of the week.

Weak week in Oklahoma this go around. OU-Tulsa and OSU-Lamar should both be blowouts, although I'll be interested to see how Bell-Thompson performs; I won't be surprised if Knight winds up sitting out more. The rest of the Big XII should be interesting with Ole Miss traveling to Austin, TCU-Tech, and the Cy-Hawk game this week.

    Aside from that... UCLA-Nebraska?

UW/Illinois at Solider Field is a cool idea, I have a UW-grad coworker who's stoked for that one.

With the Gators' bye week (and thank goodness for that), we're going to a music festival this weekend. I'll be DVR'ing Bama/A&M for sure, though.

It's going to get much hotter at Sports Illustrated's offices when this all shakes out. Just reading all of the quotes from the past players who were around when the allegations supposedly occured makes one realize that it's all bogus. That Thayer guy is going to be out of a job soon, and SI will go bankrupt from all of the civil lawsuits. What a crock.

On a lighter note, I'm pretty sure Oklahoma State will have no problem dispatching Lamar this weekend. :)

You use of UW confused me for a second. MY UW happens to kick off at the exact same time as my first set Saturday night. Hope people don't get too upset about that cuz I'm for sure playing through a late night non-conference matchup without feeling bad about it.

    Note -

The first part of the series included two folks (John Talley - booster, DeForest - coach) ADMITTING NCAA violations in their own words.

    ...

There are 2 NCAA violations right there - ADMITTED by the folks who committed them.

Even if you throw out everything the ex-players say... these are still admitted NCAA violations.

That may have been what was written in the article, but that doesn't make it true. Thayer has no proof that Talley and DeForest said those things, and both have vehemently denied ever saying them. The NCAA has already stated that they will not pursue the allegations due to the lack of proof. But at the same time, Oklahoma State has hired an NCAA investigator to assist an independent investigator to get all of the facts. Many former players including Tatum Bell and Josh Fields have stated that they were never contacted for the story. The facts will shake out, and the end result will be that the entire series will be shown to be, for the most, part bogus, exaggerated, and full of lies.

Did some of that stuff happen? Yes. But I know for a fact that when any violations occurred, particularly the drugs, those players were immediately dismissed from the team. Those who couldn't keep their grades up were dismissed from the team.

SI will, at the very least, go bankrupt from all of the civil lawsuits that result from this. Say goodbye to that magazine as you know it.

Dohrmann says he's heard the interview tapes.

Say what you will about Thayer - but Dohrmann has a pretty impeccable reputation when it comes to this sort of thing.

    From an interview with Dohrmann:

Want to put some money on that?

When a program quickly turns around and has success, it's sad that someone is standing in the wings ready to try and take it back down. With all of the former players and former & current coaches denying the allegations, who are you going to believe? A bunch of guys who got kicked off the team for using drugs or not making their grades? Not credible in my book.

Yeah - they practice squad guys got paid, but the team stars didn't? Because that's what those guys were: practice squad. Who would do that? Does that even make sense? I had to look up most of those names because I didn't recognize them. Why was that? Because (1) they never played on game day, and (2) they were kicked off the team. What makes sense is the guys whose lives now suck come out to trash the school.

There is still more to come out in this story, so I'll hang tight until I make the same kind of prediction you did.

I am trying to remember the last time a story like this came out, the NCAA and member schools investigated, it ended up being a bunch of lies, and no one was penalized.

As a former journalist, I can tell you that a lot of people will later say they've been misquoted. A few of them are right, but most of them are full of **** and just backpedaling because they've suddenly realized what's going to happen now that their statements are public.

Not making any real judgments in this instance, just taking the denials with a grain of salt.

I remember the last time Dorhmann came out with an article like this.

The reaction from U of Minnesota fans was almost identical to what I've seen from OSU fans. Huge negative reactions. Must be lies. Came from disgruntled players.

...then Dohrmann won a Pulitzer, and Minnesota went down.
