I'm looking at getting an MTD Saratoga 5 but there are absolutely none around here to check out. I'd likely end up swapping the pickups (Barts or Nordy HCs) and adding a preamp (OBP-2 or 3).

Wondering how the neck compares to the Lakland Skyline 55 series basses. I love the necks on the Laklands, but the 35" scale is starting to weigh on me. The Saratoga is a 34" scale.

I've busted my A-C shoulder joint twice and I have chronic neck pain. So light and easy to play are a must. I'm eyeing an Natural ash/maple 55-01 and a Trans Black basswood/maple Saratoga 5.

Anybody have experience with the two they could share?

    Thanks in advance!
    Jesse
