so I have an Ampeg 2x10 pro neo series cab rated at 550W @ 8ohms.
I actually have my eye on the Aguilar TH500 but I'm afraid I'll underpower my cab since it is 250W @ 8ohms.

You can give me formulas to find these things out, I swear I've tried but it's just not getting in my head.

So you think the TH500 would do or any suggestions for my cab?

The Fender Bassman Pro 100t is pretty hot right now on TB (I'm GASing for one, also).

There is a sticky at the top of the amps forum regarding under/overpowering a cabinet.

    Trust your ears, not numbers.

    You will be just fine.

Use whatever amp you want, and forget all about wattage ratings. The only numbers that matter are impedances. Make sure the amp is connected to a proper load, ie: 4 ohm minimum amp, use 1 or 2 8 ohm cabs, or 1 4 ohm cab. Don't sweat the wattage.

I'll go ahead and say it: there's no such thing as underpowering. Play and enjoy.
