    Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to talkbass and I just wanted to get some opinions

I currently have a 350 watt fender combo with 2 10s and it just isn't giving me the low end that I need. It's also just a tad quiet. I like the way that it cuts through the mix, however.

My budget is around $2400. Any thoughts?

What kind of music are you playing? How loud is your band?

Does your Fender combo have an extension speaker out...?

A few things to be aware of. You should read the stickies at the top of the amps forum, first and foremost. After that, carefully examine your needs, and remember the bulk of your budget should be for the speaker cab or cabs.

It's classic rock covers and some originals, the band is pretty loud (the guitarist has a 100 watt tube head) and the drummer wails

The fender doesn't have an extension option, only XLR to a PA

Any preferences or requirements? How big of a cab do you want? Does transportation pose an issue for a big cab?

Some of us here are broken in one way or another so the big/heavy cabs can be an issue. I won't consider moving my Mesa RR 4x10 down the steps without help.

With that budget I would be looking for a greenboy DuallyT or fEARless F212. I would pair it up with an Orange Tb1000, Ampeg PF-800, Peavey VB-2, or any other amp that tickles your fancy.

You need an amp with more mids.

    GK amps can help.
With that much money, you can practically buy a couple different amps or cabs to achieve this.

My suggestion would be to try the GK MB500, Aguilar TH500, GK 700RB

My suggestion would be to try the GK Neo 212, Ampeg 410hlf, Avatar B410

You can probably get 2 amps with one of those cabs and still have left over money.
  12. Two GK MB212s. 1000 watts. 4 12's, and a total of 80 lbs. That's 40 lbs 500 watts each. For a grand total of $1400..
  13. If you like your tone(s), you could sell your combo and pick up a Fender Rumble 350 head new for $290, and pick up a couple of Fender 410 cabs. You could leave one at the practice site and one for practice at home, and take them both when you need both for gigs. If you get 410 cabs, I would get "matching" Fender Neo or Fender Rumble cabs. The Neo cabs are lighter.

I'm in the process of doing just this, only I'm waiting for the Rumble 500 head (may be available in a month?). There are used Fender Neo and Rumble cabs on GC used, and they have a 30 day return period if there are issues.

Thanks guys for all your input! I'm currently looking into Aguilar because I have tried them before and I know I really dig their tone

For cabs I'm leaning towards a GK
  15. For an aggie head I'd go with something nicer cab Wise. Nothing wrong with gk, just not on the aggie level
  16. Which is why I'm headed towards the Fender Rumble 500 w/ Fender Bassman Neo cabs. Not quite as pricey while delivering good tone ...

I really dig the Agi tone with a few of my cabs, works really well.

What about the GK cabs has you leaning towards them?

Aguilar TH500 & Bergantino CN212 seems to be a fairly popular, very high quality combination.

TecAmp Puma 900 & Baer ML212 or Audiokinesis TC212 would be towards the top of my personal preferences.

1 kw153 1 tech 21 pre amp 1 compressor pedal. 1500 done. Best sound money can buy and can use speaker with vocals or anything. Best rig I've ever owned.

    This may be true.
This may not be as true for everyone.
