    Has anyone tried it yet?
How does it sound compared to svt-410hlf or 810e?
Does it feel efficient enough for 100 w tube amp?

It is a sealed 212. So it wont have as much low end as the 410HLF, nor will it be as loud as it or the 810.

Per the cab's efficiency, who knows. Not like manufacturers post usable specs on that anyways.

I would think it would be similar in sensitivity to the 410, which gives up a little to go lower.

Oh! didnt know it was ported. Thought the AV made it a sealed cab.

AV is for the "anniversary" or blue/silver grill cloth.

Not that hard to sound better than the 410hlf :bag:
IMHO, the worst bass cab I have ever played. Sounds bad and form factor is bad... YMMV of course.

I use and have used a 100 watt tube head and a 212 set up for quite a while now. Aguilar DB212 and now the Berg CN212. It's always done me fine. The Ampeg shows a similar sensitivity rating to both of those cabs.

I know, I know, published specs mean nothing:rolleyes:

    But just for fun...

    AV212 - Frequency Response (-3dB): 71 Hz -18 kHz
    810AV - Frequency Response (-3dB): 58Hz-5kHz

Yes, but the 810e/av's -10db point is 40 hz, while the new 121 and 112 go down to the mid-30's. It may be a -10db rolloff, but it's still usable and noticeable. That said, you're right that you can't tell much about the sound of a cab from specs alone.

I dont`t care about specs so much, I hoped to hear impressions from someone who has really played this thing...

I had 410hlf, but sold it because I didn`t like the huge low end and lack of midrange definition. I guess 410he would be better choice, but I want 4 ohm cabinet. Also efficiency is needed, because I use 100 w v4bh head.

I would expect that 2-112 AVs would sound pretty close to the 212AV. I like the flexibility of the 2 cabs for a modular approach, but typically bigger cab equals more heft in the tone. Im interested to hear the initial reviews on these cabs.

Soooon, my pretties! I'm told that the 10 or so that were in our warehouse have been sold and a bunch are on a boat on their way here- so I'm guessing 2-3 weeks.

Hi, in the last few days, I noticed that most of the U.S. retailers who listed 10/31 or 11/1 as due dates are now showing 11/22. Anyone aware of any production or shipping issues that would cause at least a three week delay?

    Thanks!

I thought they were out already. Someone got their 212av and posted about it in the Ampeg Family thread.

11/22 is probably the arrival/ship date for current orders. If they only ordered X number and they're already spoken for then orders placed today would be lumped into the next shipment.

Just pulled the trigger on an SVT-212AV. Wanted to check it out based on looks and specs bought it because it sounds great with the V4B RI. A/B'd it against a Markbass 804 identical to the one that's been my main cab the last year. The 804 sounds very good but the 212AV has a little less bottom (which translates into clarity I like), has a lot more classic Ampeg growl and is a fair bit louder. And the look with the V4B sitting on it is to die for. In both looks and sound Ampeg hit a home run matching this box with the V4B. Got a pic I'll post when I get to a real computer.

Very cool, Jeff! Have yet to play through one myself. Haven't seen any in stores. Not that I need any more cabs, but to be honest, the look of the two 210av's on top of the head isn't thrilling me like it once did, and I don't always want to bring an 810 when I use it.
