My playing has finally gotten competent enough (in my opinion, LOL) that I'm finally taking the plunge and adding a second bass. (My current and only is a Fender Blacktop Jazz, which I love but seems a little limited in tone to me now.) I had been pretty sure I was going to go with a G&L Tribute L-2000 when the time came, but I realized a little while ago that I've got enough money squirreled away to possibly go for a Lakland Skyline 44-02. I've had a chance to play both, and they both felt fantastic, so that isn't really a consideration. What I'm most interested in is having as much of a tonal palette available as possible. I've read great things about both instruments here on TB, but if any of you have played both and were faced with this decision, which would you go for? And on a side note, do you think the Lakland is worth twice the cost of the G&L? Thanks for any input you can give me on this one. :D
