I snuck in three new orders for my store's inventory before the Feb 1st price increase! The orders came back with the new/higher pricing (which is currently shown on my website), but I'll get that cleared up first thing next week. For now, just subtract roughly $225 from the pricing you see there...

Here's what I ordered. The first bass is a 5-string version of this bass, and the other two I'm just adding a little Lull diversity here:

    Mike Lull M5V (Spalted, 2TSB)
    - Alder/Spalted Maple Top/RW
    - 2 Tone Burst w/ White Pearloid pickguard
    - Black Headstock
    - Nordy J PUPs & Nordy 3-Band Pre

Mike Lull P4 (Ice Blue Metallic)
    - Alder/RW
    - Ice Blue Metallic w/ White Pearloid pickguard
    - Fralin P Pickup
    - Bart NTBT 2-band preamp

    Mike Lull 54P (Butterscotch Blonde)
    - Ash/Maple
    - Trans Butterscotch Blonde w/ Black pickguard
    - Fralin Hum Cancelling Split Coil PUP
    - Passive

Nice choice adding the black headstock to the sunburst bass.

Active P bass? And in the totally perfect cosmetics of ice blue, pearloid, and rosewood? Sweet. The icing on the top, if I may intrude? Matching headstock.

And you're killin' me with the fiver...to include the darn pearloid guard. Alas, I may just have my revenge, Mr. Bump. Here's my first bold prediction of 2012: The man who unboxes this bass may just be the one to take it home. (Insert Dr. Evil laugh here.)

Most excellent specs, Greg - three home runs for sure!

Awesome, Jim! I'll try to squeeze some progress pics out of him.

Here's the body for your V4-to-be, Jim. Paul did caution that his camera's color rendering is not spot on, so don't judge too much based on this. But hopefully it's in the realm of the darker Surf Green you were hoping for.

For everyone else's reference: this one will be an Ash/Maple V4 with a tort pickguard!

Thanks for the input, Jerry! I'm trying to keep the cost down on the active P... will it suck without the matching headstock? I can probably still change it, but the price just goes up and up...

And I did order the 5 string with myself in mind... I know I love the Nordy pickups, I'm pretty sure I'll love the preamp...

    Awesome!

Just FYI - we can have it shipped straight to you if you like. Or I'm happy to give it the full treatment if you prefer to run it through here (archival pics, check the setup, etc.). More options! :)

Greg, not a chance something you'd order would suck. I just love ice blue against rosewood. This should be an amazing bass.

The Spalted/2TSB is one of the sexiest things I've ever seen.

Jeff Moote suggested adding a P route to the M5V so this can be changed into a PJ down the road. That's just a $75 List adder, so I did it. If I end up loving the bass, I might be able to scratch two itches at once: an Alder/RW JJ or a PJ5. I want both!

It can easily be both with 2 pickguards. I'd probably go one step further to put machine screw inserts in the body (so the screw holes don't wear out) and quick connectors on the pickup leads. You could switch it back and forth in under 5 minutes

^ Total FWIW here, but....possibly spending a few more of your dollars... :D

On my orange dreamsicle, I hedged my bets. It started life as a J/J. When it went back north for the P route, Mike put quick-connects on both the new P and the existing J. Since he cut a new pickguard for the P, the bass came home with the original J + quick connector and the J pickguard in the gig bag. Turns out it was money I didn't need to spend - the thing is just a ridiculous absolute beast as a P/J - but it's nice knowing it could go back to "stock" in only a few minutes.
